This site is intended to reveal the intentions clients hold when hiring architects to build skyscrapers. The clients behind buildings are often neglected in an architect's education and these patrons often hold a great deal of influence in the development of technology.

As you move through the site, there is as a short essay on the motives clients have when commissioning architects to build specifically skyscrapers, as well as a selection of skyscrapers organized chronologically and geographically, outlining their the development and the intentions behind them.

Pictured at left is a watercolor image of the Cleveland skyline. Throughout this site there are more watercolor drawings, in a variety of styles. The intent was to portray skyscrapers in a softer perspective atypical to their usual presence. In the same way, skyscraper development has shifted focus to no longer constantly seeking the bigger and better but innovating with different intentions as well.
